The ISU Trainers:
Kathy Morrissey-Pinkerton
Kathy has a B.S.W. from Iowa State University, and an M.S. in Human Development and Family Studies and an M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy also from ISU. She has 19 years of experience in social work, corrections, and treatment as a direct service worker, trainer, and supervisor. Kathy joined the Child Welfare Project in mid-2005. Kathy is the Program Coordinator, which is generally a "behind-the-scenes" role. This includes managing the contract, conducting research, supervising the trainers, and coordinating events and projects for the Department of Human Services.
Martha Stewart
Martha received her undergraduate degree from Grinnell College (1980), and completed two Masters Degrees at Iowa State University, one in Anthropology (1985) and one in Economics (1990). She worked for several years as Field Director for the Center for Family Research at Iowa State University, doing questionnaire design and interviewer training. She next worked as a Database Administrator for the Office of Sponsored Programs at Iowa State University, doing database reporting and training database users. In 2003, she began work as a Technical Writer/Trainer with the Iowa State University Child Welfare Project, providing both written and in-person training resources for the Iowa Child Support Recovery Unit.
Mike Dobbs
Mike graduated from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake in 1979 with a degree in Psychology and after graduating was employed for six years by the Iowa Child Support Recovery Unit in Fort Dodge and Des Moines. He was employed for thirteen years at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames as their Business Office Director. Mike has also provided healthcare consulting and marketing for Accounts Receivable Management companies in Iowa. Mike joined the Child Welfare Project in 2004. He provides training and educational resources for the Iowa Child Support Recovery Unit.
Jeremy Schweitzer
Jeremy received his B.S. in English Literature from Iowa State University prior to joining the Child Welfare Project in 2005. As an ISU Trainer, Jeremy develops process-training programs including statewide support for written packets and conference call-based training. Jeremy is interested in how technology can enhance training opportunities, specifically how computer based training (CBT) can improve the training experience.
Julie Jeffries
Julie earned a B.S. in elementary education (1981) and an M.A. in instructional design (1990) from the University of Iowa. Julie has over 17 years of teaching experience and over 13 years of training and business management experience. Most recently, Julie was the President and CEO of the Quad Cities Automatic Sprinkler Company. Julie also founded Midwest Compliance Consultants, which provided construction safety training. Julie joined the ISU Trainers in the spring of 2007. Her experience in written assessment design will help with training redesign and update projects, and her presentation experience will be invaluable for face-to-face training.
The Support Staff:
Laura Johnson
Laura is a junior at ISU majoring in psychology. Laura supports the ISU Trainers by assisting with projects for each trainer as needed. Laura also provides logistical support for the various conferences and outreach programs the trainers organize. |
