Jeffries Joins the ISU Trainersby Jeremy Schweitzer Julie Jeffries, former co-owner of Midwest Compliance Consultants, joined the training team in May. Jeffries brings more than 25 years of teaching and training experience to the position. The ISU Trainers are a branch of the Child Welfare Project. The trainers provide process training and project development services to the Iowa Child Support Recovery Unit (CSRU). As a trainer, Jeffries is responsible for analyzing training needs, coordinating development teams, reviewing training materials, and delivering content CSRU staff. “I am looking forward to getting to know Ames,” Jeffries said. “And grateful to Iowa State for the chance to return to training and developing materials myself.” Jeffries taught for more than 17 years in the Davenport Community School District. In 1994, while still teaching, Jeffries founded Midwest Compliance Consultants to provide construction safety training and consulting services. From 2002 to 2006, Jeffries served as the President and CEO of the Quad Cities Automatic Sprinkler Company. Jeffries has also received numerous awards as both a teacher and an entrepreneur. Jeffries was named to Who’s Who Among American Teachers in both 2000 and 2002. She was also the 2003 recipient of the Quad Cities Better Business Bureau Integrity Award. Jeffries earned her M.A. in instructional design (1990) and a B.S. in elementary education (1981) from the University of Iowa.
